Altasreef — Classical Arabic Morphology System for Nouns and Verbs
Altasreef is a comprehensive Arabic morphology and linguistic education platform that automates the generation, visualization, and assessment of both verbs and nouns according to the classical principles of ‘Ilm-us-Sarf. It is available in Arabic, Urdu, and English, serving as a bridge between traditional madrasah instruction and modern NLP-driven pedagogy.
Altasreef includes two core modules — the Gardaan Generator, which produces rule-based morphological variations of Arabic verbs and nouns, and the Exam Generator, which allows teachers to create and evaluate morphology exams automatically. The system follows verified grammatical templates of ‘Ilm-us-Sarf and provides bilingual (Urdu–English) explanations for every generated form.
Technical Overview
- Backend: Python FastAPI implementing modular rule sets for noun and verb pattern generation.
- Database: Structured CSV → SQLite mapping of roots, patterns, Baab types, and morphology attributes.
- Frontend: Unicode-compatible interface supporting Arabic and Urdu script with right-to-left rendering.
- Algorithmic Rules: Encodes over 200 classical templates combining Baab, tense, number, gender, and case.
- Exam Generator: Produces bilingual test sheets (Arabic–Urdu–English) with printable PDFs and automated result tracking.
- Integration: Linked with QTest for cross-platform quiz generation and student performance analytics.
Key Features
- Gardaan Generator: Generates full morphological tables for both nouns and verbs with Urdu and English translation and rule references.
- Extended Abwaab Support: Covers more than ten derived patterns (نصر، تفعیل، تفاعل، افعال، استفعال، افتعال, etc.) and their variations.
- Grammatical Diversity: Supports over 25 morphological modes such as ماضی، مضارع، امر، نہی، منصوب، مجہول and their negated counterparts.
- Multilingual Interface: Complete trilingual access — Arabic for content, Urdu for explanation, and English for transliteration and grammar mapping.
- Pedagogical Focus: Designed for madrasah classical Arabic students, Arabic teachers, and computational linguists for simultaneous learning and analysis.
- Deployment: Dockerized FastAPI service hosted on Contabo VPS with Nginx proxy, rate limiting, and continuous data updates.
